Doug Cash is a veteran singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist producer and record label owner from Sacramento, California. For more than two decades he has been producing a voluminous catalog of music from Folk to Soul and Rock to Electronic. His songs have been played on TV and radio all over the world.
In recent months Doug has been reintroducing some favorites from the vault with brand new music videos. Regular readers of The Static Dive will remember tracks like ‘Emotional Treason,’ ‘Locust’ and ‘So High in Love.’ The flicks are all part of the singer’s ‘Early Years’ YouTube project.
“Secrets” is the current single from Doug Cash, with a brand new video released worldwide via YouTube on February 27, 2022. Haunting acapella vocal harmonies introduce the track as a trio of acoustic guitar, bass and piano enters the mix, walking slowly through minor-key arpeggios. Soon Doug Cash steps to the mic and delivers a soulful commentary on the dishonesty of omission. Guest vocalist Lauren Wakefield answers with a soulful and wordless response in the chorus.
At the 1:25 mark the track shifts gears into an experimental 60’s Pop vibe. The mood shifts back and forth between groovy music theater arrangements and Acid Rock guitar riffs. Originally released as the lead track on a 2013 EP of the same name, Doug Cash recently debuted a brand new video for the song. The track matches the song’s musical psychedelic theme with surreal scenes and exploding colors.
