James Bussey is Da-Mind, an emerging rapper, producer and record label owner from Atlanta, Georgia. The multitalented Hip-hop artist has been dropping his unique blend of old-school and new since 2018. Regular readers of The Static Dive will remember his songs “No Drama,” “Beautiful” and “My Best Life.”
Da-Mind has released a total of seven singles since his debut “Dropping Change.” With each new track he further expands his fanbase far beyond the borders of his hometown’s famous music scene. Each of his most recent singles has been a cross-platform hit, earning over 20K spins on Spotify alone. His latest track is poised to be his biggest yet.
“I’m Not” is the brand new single from Da-Mind, released worldwide to all major streaming services on April 20, 2022. The track rolls on a dirty South groove that pairs retro Synthwave vibes with a low and slow 808 Trap beat. Da-Mind steps to the mic and in his signature, old-school lyrical flow establishes his lonewolf status. He is defiant as he rhymes ‘I’m not a gangster, I’m not a thug… I’m just me.”
