Doddi is a man of many talents, and many names. The Icelandic DJ, producer and radio personality on the nation’s biggest popular music radio station. Regular readers of The Static Dive know him well.
He performs most often as both Doddi, or as his comical alter-ego Love Guru. The multi-talented musician has created a deep catalog in recent years, from the ethereal soundscapes of 2019’s “Last Dance” to Love Guru bangers like “Shake Your Body” and the disco-fabulous “Desire“. On his latest, the artist’s two sides come together to resurrect a dance classic.
“Baby Do You Wanna Dump” (N3dek Remix) is the brand new single from Doddi and Love Guru, released worldwide via all major streaming services on February 10, 2023. A cover of the late 70’s disco hit made famous by pop-provocateur Frank Farian and his group Boney M. He was also the brains behind the short and scandalous career of 80’s pop-stars Milli Vanilli.
The faithful cover features all of the ridiculous fun of the original. The song rides on an upbeat early-house groove. On the mic, the singer chants the song’s mantra and title as female vocalists “ooh”, “ahh” and “doo doo doo” on the periphery. It’s a fun and infectious groove that’ll make you wanna bump.
